        Position: 2nd/3rd Year Apprentice Chef
        Location: The Deck Cafe Restaurant & Bar, Soldiers Point Marina
        Type: Full-Time

         

        Overview:
        We are seeking a passionate and motivated 2nd/3rd Year Apprentice Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue your culinary education under the guidance of an experienced chef in a fast-paced, creative environment. As an apprentice chef, you will play a key role in assisting with daily kitchen operations, learning new skills, and preparing high-quality dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

         

        Key Responsibilities:
        • Assist in food preparation and cooking under the direction of senior chef
        • Learn and practice various cooking techniques and methods
        • Ensure that kitchen workstations are clean, organized, and comply with food safety standards
        • Help with stock control, inventory management, and kitchen cleanliness
        • Contribute to menu development and presentation of dishes
        • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and kitchen safety
        • Take direction and feedback to further develop your culinary skills

         

        Skills & Qualifications:
        • Currently in your 2nd or 3rd year of apprenticeship
        • Genuine passion for food and a desire to build a career in the culinary arts
        • Ability to work well in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
        • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality dishes
        • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred

        Position: Cook

        Type: Full-Time

         

        Overview:
        We are looking for an experienced Cook to join our team at The Deck Cafe Restaurant & Bar. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in kitchen operations, with the ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes to the highest standards. You’ll be working alongside a talented team, contributing to our menu in a vibrant, fast-paced environment.

         

        Key Responsibilities:
        • Prepare and cook meals according to the restaurant’s menu and standards
        • Manage kitchen stations, ensuring all ingredients and equipment are ready for service
        • Ensure food is cooked, presented, and served in a timely manner
        • Maintain food hygiene and safety practices in line with health and safety regulations
        • Participate in cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas
        • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations

         

        Skills & Qualifications:
        • Proven experience as a Cook in a professional kitchen
        • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
        • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment
        • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
        • A positive attitude, team player mentality, and willingness to learn
        • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately

        Position: Wait Staff
        Location: The Deck Cafe Restaurant & Bar, Soldiers Point Marina
        Type: Full-time / Casual

         

        Overview:
        As a member of our wait staff, you will be the face of The Deck Cafe Restaurant & Bar, responsible for ensuring guests have a positive and enjoyable dining experience. You’ll take orders, serve food and beverages, and provide excellent customer service while working in a fast-paced and welcoming environment.

         

        Key Responsibilities: 
        • Greet guests warmly, escort them to their tables, and ensure a pleasant dining atmosphere.
        • Present menus, provide detailed information about dishes and beverages, and answer any guest questions.
        • Take accurate food and drink orders and relay them to the kitchen staff.
        • Serve food and drinks promptly and with care, ensuring quality presentation.
        • Monitor tables to ensure guests are satisfied, respond promptly to requests, and resolve any issues that arise.
        • Clear tables, reset them for new diners, and assist with general cleaning duties as needed.
        • Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service.
        • Maintain knowledge of the menu, including any specials or new items.
        • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.

         

        Skills & Qualifications:
        • Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe environment is preferred.
        • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
        • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
        • A positive attitude, team spirit, and strong work ethic.
        • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
        • A passion for providing top-quality service to every guest.
